The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont has proudly served Beaumont and surrounding communities for almost 75 years. Though founded in the 1940s, Buford Coe, a veteran of World War II, established The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont’s current identity when he took over the distributorship in April 1963 at the invitation of The Overhead Door Corporation, thus establishing the family owned and operated business known today as a Beaumont institution. From its original location on Washington Boulevard and its current location on Main Lane, The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont has sold, installed, and serviced both commercial and residential overhead and garage door systems since its founding and now provides local business owners and residents with other products and services including custom doors, storm shutters, automated gates, and security screens.
Though the types of products and services offered by The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont have expanded and changed over the years, the values of hard work, dedication, and customer service established by Buford Coe continue in the second and third generations of his family that operate the business today. While in the early days Buford and his wife Rose managed all operations of The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont from the office to the field, today their sons Gary, Rick, Steve, and Wes continue the family tradition. All of the seven Coe children learned the importance of a strong work ethic and family values from their parents through working at the shop from a young age in whatever capacity they could, even if that only meant sweeping! Since 1970, Gary Coe, oldest son and current president of The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont, has managed the family business along with his brothers, Rick, Steve, and Wes.
With a combined 247 years of knowledge and experience, the Coe family has proudly brought The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont into the 21st century, confronting both its challenge and its promise as a team. In 2005 and 2008, Hurricanes Rita and Ike tested the now more than 40 employees of The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont who provided relief for home and business owners throughout southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana in the aftermath of the storms. The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont rose to this challenge and continued to thrive, moving into a new facility (2010) and opening branches in Jasper (2010), Lufkin (2013), and Dayton (2015). Continuing to give back to the community that has given it so much, The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont has long supported local sports teams and charitable organizations. Most recently, The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont donated and installed a wrought iron gate and electric gate operator for the Lone Survivor Foundation at their new counselling center for veterans in Crystal Beach, TX (May 2015). The Coe family and The Overhead Door Company of Beaumont look forward to serving Beaumont and Jefferson, Hardin, Chambers, Orange, Tyler, Liberty, and Newton counties for years to come, as they have with pride and integrity since 1963.
